My Sister's Keeper

Summary

The movie was very emotional in many ways. Anna Fitzgerald (Abigail Breslin) the main character and Brian and Sara Fitzgerald were her mother and father. Anna has an older brother Jesse, and a younger sister, Kate, who was diagnosed with leukemia. Anna was unable to have a childhood because she was brought into the world purposely for a genetic match for her sister. When Anna turns 13 years old she will have to donate one of kidneys to her sister, Kate. Anna gets is very upset and tired of feeling like she's only alive for the help of her sister. Anna decides to sue her parents for medical emancipation and the rights to her own body. Campbell Alexander decides he will help Anna sue her parents. Kate knew she would not survive the surgery and wants to die. Anna finally wins the case and is able to keep her kidney. After the case is over, Kate dies in the hospital. Every single family member was affected by Kate's illness and they go on with their lives, but changed from her death. 

This movie was very good. The characters in the movie each had their own inseparable bonds with each other and there was an unpredictable twist at the end of the movie. Also, this movie is good because the sister, Kate, falls in love and Jesse, Kate's brother, takes her to the beach because that was the last thing she wanted. 

Characters

Not every family always gets a long with each other. In this movie, the mother, Anna, and Kate love each other and have this bond that not everyone has. For example, when Kate started losing her hair, her mother shaved her head bald. I know from experience that us females love our hair and without we don't feel like a woman. Also, Kate and Anna would do anything for each other and truly are best friends.

Trial

Throughout the whole movie, we assume that Anna is suing her mother because she wants to and is sick and tired of being used for her body parts. Kate loves Anna so much and does not like seeing Anna suffer from feeling like she is worthless. At the end of the movie we find out that Anna is not the one who wanted to sue her parents, it was Kate. Kate knew that she was going to die and her parents needed to realize Anna is their daughter too. This made the movie interesting because it was so unpredictable.

Love Story

We all need someone to love. Before Kate died she found her true love. She met Taylor in the hospital while he was getting his treatment. They both had cancer so they were going through the same thing and had that special connection. They could talk to each other about things that no one else would understand. Love stories always make a good movie better!

Last Wish

Kate was dying she knew it was coming. Her family did not want to face reality and say she was. Jesse, Kate's brother, finally came to realize that Kate was going sooner than they thought and wanted to make her happy. Jesse wanted to take Kate to the beach but he had to sneak her out. This may not have been good for Kate, but it was what she wanted. They whole family went with and they stayed on the beach the whole day together. 

Closing

Throughout the whole movie we knew Kate had cancer and was dying. We got to see the family change because of Kate's illness. Relationships with everyone changed all for the best! The family did get closer and realized everyone needs love no matter what the situation is!
